Our core syllabus is designed typically for students aged around 11 or above (though some students start it earlier). Students work towards specific technical goals at each stage, building on previous knowledge each time to ensure a logical transition through the various levels of expertise.
The core syllabus typically works through the following requirements:
As a sport karate style, we aim to provide the discipine and focus of the traditional martial arts alongside more modern approaches to teaching and learning.
We aim to be inclusive and welcoming to all students, regardless of previous experience or fitness levels. We will work with you to consistently improve at your own pace, and ensure you are always getting the most out of your training.
As a beginner student, you will learn basic punches, kicks and blocks as well as our first form or routine. You will also have the opportunity to try out some basic self-defence work with a partner, and eventually even some light sparring if you are feeling brave!
You will often find yourself working in small groups of students at a similar level to yourself, with an instructor always available to answer any questions or give you a helping hand when needed.
In most of our classes, students of all levels train in the same hall or studio, so if you are looking for a family activity this is the place! We also offer six months free training to all adult students training alongside a family member under 16.
We hope to reach out to young people and adults who have yet to find their passion or hobby, or that sense of belonging that comes from being part of a team. If regular sports were never your thing, or you’ve lost touch with sport over the years, why not give this a try? We promise you will find a welcoming and friendly environment full of supportive people who are glad to see a new student.
